Hi all,

I'm getting really stressed. I'm going to my friend's 40th birthday thing on Sat which is a really posh champagne afternoon tea. It's been planned for months and she's paid (and I think it's really expensive as the hotel is very posh). I loved the idea originally as it's just us girls, leaving kids and hubbys behind - we are going to pretend to be civilised but get gently blotto. However, now I've started CS I'm really stressed as I know I'll not be able to eat any of it and she'll be upset and it's a total waste.

How do I play this? Do I not eat anything or do I decide I'm going to have time out from CS and go for a few bits. It's going to be a carb fest essentially. I've not cheated at all so far (only done 3 and a half weeks)

What do you think?

Thanks

Hey chick, I am facing something similar on sunday...

I have decided to make it known that I am on CS diet to the people going, when you get there why not pick the meat and veggies/salad and try to leave any bread, potato ect. Or if you have the book, in the mantinace plan you have one meal a day with carbs why not do this for the day? If you have your afternoon tea why not just have a shake and berries for tea or shake and a snack bar for evening snack. Im sure after a carbs fest you wont be too hungry in the evening anyway...Its easy for people to say one day wont hurt you but you cant feel guilty for eating carbs, just get back onto it after and make that the only meal of the day... Thats my plan anyway. Hope it helps and give you some pointers

have a great day it sounds fab!!!

take care, Danni x x

Hi

I have been faced with similar problems. All I do is speak to the venue prior and say you are on a special diet for medical resons, no one every argues with that. Tell them what you cant eat and leave the rest to the venue.

Avoid temptation no point cheating, you'll feel bad and it will make you unhappy.

You're not just going for the food its a day out with your firends enjoy that.

I say go for it. If you not cheated then let your hair down and enjoy it as it only one day and just hit the gym the next dat and besides if your friend paid for it i think she may be a bit upset if you turn your nose up at it.

GO FOR IT

Hey all, Thanks for replies. I'm going to combine advice: have the tea as my meal and enjoy it and not feel guilty. There's a balance to be found and I'm not going to be a slave to a diet. This thing is about me and so as long as I make considered decisions now and then I'm convinced it'll be fine. It's exactly half way through my 8 weeks, so I know I can do 4 without cheating and so I can do another 4.

Thanks for the replies, appreciated.

Hi again, thought I'd update: I went and really had a lovely time but the really interesting thing was I didn't really enjoy the cake!!! (So I stopped eating it). I LOVE cake - it's a well known fact - so to not be bothered shows how this diet is changing my relationship with food. Yay! Had a couple of little sandwiches and a scone and bit of cake and treated this as my 'meal'. Just had a shake in the morning and CS soup for evening meal. Weigh-in this morning obviously didn't show it as I'd lost another 2lbs. I'm going to be dead good this coming week and get down to the gym for the first time in years. really interested to see next week's weigh-in.

Thanks for support - hopefully this shows it's all about making considered choices and compensating for them. I'll find out next week!

lucyjane - i know where you are coming from on the cake thing.  Before I started CS I was a cae addict.  Been to harvester for tea and as a treat seen as I have not cheated this last four weeks and have even started doing wii fit I decided to have the light chocolate torte, made with low fat mouse.  When it came out it was what I would have before called a small slice of cake and would probably have said where is the rest of it.  Yet today that was just right and couldnt have managed a bigger piece as I had filled up on salad with the unlimited salad bar.
